James S. Welzien, CPA is a
founding principal in the firm Cobo, Welzien, Bowers & Company, a Certified
Public Accounting and Consulting firm. Cobo,
Welzien, Bowers & Company was formed from a merger of Florida Medical
Management Consultants, Inc. and Welzien & Company CPA, P.A. leaders
in the healthcare field with over 60 years of combined experience in South
Florida. Mr. Welzien is a graduate from
South Illinois University with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and a Masters in
Tax. His extensive and diversified experience
in Business and Healthcare started in 1973 as an IRS agent for the U.S.
Treasury Department. Welzien also was a Compliance Officer for the U.S. Department of Labor from 1976 through
1979. He is a Florida Licensed Certified Public Accountant with diversified experience in operational
management, tax, and financial accounting as it relates to business and
healthcare in virtually every medical/Dental specialty.
Welzien has also worked with specialties in
developing out-patient surgical and diagnostic facilities including physician
limited partnership, group practice formation and operational structure of such
facilities including equipment purchasing and staffing. He has had extensive
experience with developing managed care networks in a variety of specialties
and providing contract negotiations as well as developing physician
compensation models. Mr. Webzine's professional affiliations include but are
not limited to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida
Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and The National Society of
Certified Healthcare Consultants.
His community involvements
include participating in a leadership role in professional and non-for-profit
organizations such as The Florida
Bar Association Grievance Committee, Broward Partnership for The Homeless and
the Audit Committee of the Broward County
Housing Authority. He is also active in Saint Gregory's Finance Committee and
is a Vestry Member.
